Tanzania has several weigh bridge stations along the central corridor

Status note

At the 21st EAC NTBs Regional Forum , Tanzania reported that the NTB had been resolved because there are only three weigh bridges Vigwaza at the coastal region, Njuki in Singida and Nyakahura in Kagera region weigh in motion weighbridges. It takes maximum of 4 days to exit the border from Dar Port and 2 days for fuel tankers.

Progress update note

1. The Ministers decided that the weighbridges be reduced to two (2) one at the point of entry and other the port of exit.

Tanzania reported that she has introduced three stop inspection centers ( Vigwanza, Manyoni and Nyakanazi). One Stop Inspection Stations (OSISs) including weighbridge to be constructed at Vigwaza, Manyoni and Nyakanazi. Vigwaza weighbridge for transit cargo is complete and operational. Manzoni and Nyakanazi under design and were supposed to be completed by June 2015 "

2. The 16th EAC Forum on NTBs held in Kigali noted that the Ministers decided that the weighbridges be reduced to two. One at the point of entry and other at the port of exit.
In giving progress report, Tanzania reported that she had introduced three stop inspection centers at Vigwanza, Manyoni and Nyakanazi.

On 06 February 2015, a Burundi transporter who uses the central corridor confirmed that the weighbridge stations are at KIBAHA, MIKESE, MOROGORO, DODOMA, SINGIDA, KAHAMA and NYAKAHURA. Further all of these weigh bridges have different gaugings.
