The Malawi standard specifies the requirements for the materials, design and manufature of welding helmets, hand shields, goggles and welding spectacles that are intended to be used with protective filters, filter covers and backing lenses that comply with the appropriate transmittance requirements in annex B. Eye protection devices for use in welding with lasers are not covered by this standard
