TZS 247: 2012 Orange juice – Specification

Orange juice is a sweet, yellowish-coloured juice obtained by mechanical process from the endocarp of sound, ripe oranges (Citrus sinensis (L) Osbeck) after trimming; which can be bought sweetened or unsweetened, in cans, glass bottles and other similar containers in liquid form, frozen concentrates or as a powder. It is normally consumed as a drink, but can also be used for baking or cooking.

In Tanzania orange juice is produced locally and also a significant quantity is imported. As such this Tanzania Standard was prepared in order to ensure that the orange juice prepared in the country and which is imported is safe and of good quality.
