TZS 357: 2012 Cloves specification

Cloves are one of the most important spices produced in the country. Clove production is characterized by smallholder production and its contribution to the national economy and in terms of foreign currency earning is significant. Apart from its culinary value as a seasoning agent, cloves are widely used for medicinal purposes.

This Tanzania Standard is prepared so as to enhance and improve safety and quality of cloves traded either in the country or for export purpose especially in view of the existing clove varieties grown in the country as well as the marketing system.
