TZS 358:2015 Cardamoms — Specification
Cardamoms are the dried, nearly ripe fruits of Elettaria cardamomum (L) Maton. The capsules are of colour ranging from light green to brown, or pale cream to white, oblong in shape with a rounded part or are three cornered, having a ribbed appearance. The capsules may be clipped and pedicels removed. It is one of the important spices produced in the country.
This standard was prepared so as to enhance and improve the safety and quality of cardamoms which is produced or traded in the country.
