Description of the measure
Except as otherwise provided in these regulations, the term " Pasteurized" when used in association with Milk or milk products shall be taken to refer to the process of heating all the milk:
a) to a temperature of not less than 63 degree c and holding it at such temperature of not less than 30 minutes and immediately thereafter reducing it to a temperature below 4 degree c, or
b) to a temperature of not less than 71.5 degree c and retaining it at such a temperature for at least fifteen seconds or at any other approved time-temperature combination, and immediately thereafter reducing milk to a temperature below 4 degree c and confirming to the following standard;
i) the standard plate count determined by the prescribed method shall be not more than 50,000 millitres,
ii) The coliform count determined by prescribed method shall not be more than 5 per millitre and faecal coliform shall be nil millitre,
iii) The dye-reduction time determined by the methylene blue-keeping quality test by the prescribed method shall be not more than two hours; and
iv) the phosphate test determined by the prescribed method shall give a reading of not more than 10 micrograms of P-nitrophenol for one millitre of milk
