Description of the measure
131.Black pepper, whole or ground, shall be the dried, whole berry of Piper nigrum L., and shall contain not more than 8.0 per centum of total ash and not more than 1.4 percentum of ash insoluble in hydrochloric acid.
132.White pepper, whole or ground, shall be the dried mature berry of Piper nigrum L., from which the outer coating of pericarp has been removed, and shall contain not more than 6 per centum of crude fibre, 4 per centum of total ash, and 0.2 per centum of ash insoluble in hydrochloric acid.
133.Cayenne pepper or cayenne or chillies, whole or ground, shall be the dried,ripe fruit of Capsicum frutescens L., Capsicum baccatum L., Capsicum annum or other small-fruited species of Capsicum
, and shall contain-
(a)not more than-
(i) 28 per centum of crude fibre;
(ii) 8 per centum of total ash; and
(iii) 1.25 per centum of ash insoluble in hydrochloric acid; and
(b)not less than 15 per centum of non-volatile ether extract
