The rationale of the measure
This specification covers switches for appliances actuated by hand, by foot or by any other human activity , for use in , on, or with appliances and other equipment for household and similar purposes , with rated voltage in the 50V to 440 V and a rated current not exceeding 63A but does not apply to switches already built into appliances. 
Description of the measure
3. Requirements
A switch shall comply with the relevant of te following clauses of SABS IEC 61058-1:1996, Switches for Appliance - Part 1:General requirements , as published by Government Notice No. 250 of 20 February 1998.
