The rationale of the measure
These regulations shall apply to vinegar which is sold or manufactured for sale in Zimbabwe.

Description of the measure
5 (1) Blended vinegar shall be a mixture of 2 or more different types of vinegar.
(2) Cider-vinegar or apple-vinegar shall be the product made solely by the alcoholic and subsequent acetous fermentation, without distillation, of the juice of the apple.
(3) Distilled vinegar shall be the colourless product made solely by the distillation of any 1 of the forms of vinegar, other than blended vinegar.
(4) Glucose-vinegar shall be the product made solely by the alcoholic and subsequent acetous fermentation of solutions of starch, sugar, glucose or glucose syrup.
(5) Grape-vinegar or wine-vinegar shall be the product made solely by the alcoholic and subsequent acetous fermentation, without distillation, of the juice of the grape, or the acetous fermentation of wine, whether or not such juice or wine has been fortified by the addition of wine-spirit, wine-brandy or grape-brandy, up to a maximum alcoholic strength of 20%.
(6) Imitation vinegar shall be a dilution of synthetic acetic acid in water.
(7) Malt-vinegar shall be the product made solely by the alcoholic and subsequent acetous fermentation, without distillation, of an infusion solely of whole malted barley, with or without other cereal grain, the starch whereof has been converted into fermentable sugar by the direct agency of malt.
(8) Spirit-vinegar shall be the product made solely by the acetous fermentation of dilute distilled alcohol.
(9) Sugar-vinegar shall be the product made solely by the alcoholic and subsequent acetous fermentation, without distillation, of solutions of sugar or molasses, with or without the addition of an infusion of cereal grain
