These regulations shall apply only to meat and preparations of meat which are sold or intended for sale in Zimbabwe.

Description of the measure
Processed meat—
(a) shall contain no foreign substances other than common salt, sugar, vinegar, spices, permitted colouring matter, saltpetre and sodium or potassium nitrite:
Provided that the final product shall contain not more than 200 mgs per kg of total nitrite, calculated as sodium nitrite, and shall contain not more than 500 mgs per kg of total nitrate, calculated as sodium nitrate;
(b) may, if packed in any container, contain fat, agar-agar and/or gelatine as a packing medium
