- ARTICLE 39 (Health import requirements)
1. Foodstuffs of aquatic origin and rations used for aquatic animals intended for human consumption to be imported shall comply with the hygienic requirements of this Regulation and other applicable legal provisions.
2. Importers of food of aquatic origin and of feed used for aquatic animals intended for human consumption shall be responsible for the purchase of products lawfully produced in the country of origin and the production of which takes place in accordance with the hygienic requirements of this Regulation and other related provisions.
3. The Competent Authority shall establish, in legal instruments, the rules for the implementation of official controls on imports of food of aquatic origin and of feeding-stuffs used for aquatic animals intended for human consumption, including those relating to the import process. - Reference of the measure
