Rwanda doubts the originating status of wheat flour exported by Egypt  

Status note

During the 5th Meeting of COMESA NTBs Focal Points held in Nairobi fro 23-25 August 2016, Egypt reported that the complainant had not been forth coming with additional information to facilitate consideration of this matter by the countries, In that regard, The two parties therefore decided that the matter be considered resolved .  

Progress update note

1. On 8th February 2016, Egypt Focal Point reported that Egypt's National Monitoring Committee was awaiting response to their request to set a date for the verification visit from the Exporting companies

2. During the 2nd meeting of COMESA sub- committee of Heads of Customs held on 19-20 June 2015, Rwanda reported that delays in receiving the required information from Egypt had caused delays in reaching a decision on the matter . Egypt expressed concern that Rwanda was applying MFN rates on Egyptian wheat imports and implored Rwanda to use procedures laid down in the Protocol on RoO and also that Rwanda should apply the measure on a case by case basis.
