Description of the measure
179. Standards for canned food for an infant and a child
(1) No person shall import, manufacture, process, pack, store, offer for sale or sell any
canned food for an infant or a child in ready-to-eat form unless it complies with
the standards specified in paragraph (2).
(2) Canned food for an infant or a child in ready-to-eat form-
(a) shall be processed by heat so as to prevent spoilage, and packed in a
hermetically sealed can, jar or other container;
(b) shall be homogenous or comminuted in the following forms -
(i) strained and containing small sized particles which does not
require chewing before being swallowed; or
(ii) non-strained and containing particles of a size that encourage
chewing by infants or children;
