The rationale of the measure
These regulations shall apply to edible fats and oils which are sold or manufactured for sale in Zimbabwe.

Description of the measure
(4) Fatty substances intended to be used for cooking or other culinary purposes—
(a) shall, if they are a mixture of any or all of the following ingredients—
(i) oils conforming to the requirements of subsection (5));
(ii) animal fats;
(iii) hydrogenated (hardened) vegetable and marine oils and fats;
be labelled "COOKING-FAT", in type no smaller 18 point
Provided that a fatty substance intended for a specific culinary purpose may be labelled in a manner which clearly describes the specific purpose for which the substance is intended;
(b) if prepared from fats and oils of vegetable origin, shall be labeled "VEGETABLE OIL”, or shall bear the name of the oil from which it is manufactured, in type no smaller than 18 point;
(c) shall be free from rancidity and objectionable odour and taste;
(d) shall not contain any mineral oil;
(e) may contain permitted antioxidants.
