- These regulations shall apply to all fish and fish products which are sold or manufactured for sale in Zimbabwe.

- Description of the measure
- 4 (1) Prepared fish or prepared fish products shall be whole or comminuted food prepared from fresh or preserved fish or fish products, which may be canned, cooked or frozen and may contain—
(a) edible oil, vegetable broth or tomato puree:
Provided that the label shall clearly state that the product contains edible oil, vegetable broth or tomato puree, as may be appropriate;
(b) a gelling agent:
Provided that the label shall clearly state that the product contains a gelling agent or is printed thereon “jellied” or words to that effect;
(c) salt;
(d) in the case of canned cod livers, canned sardines and canned kipper snacks, liquid smoke flavour:
Provided that the label shall clearly state that the product contains liquid smoke flavour;
(e) in the case of canned shellfish, canned mackerel and frozen cooked prawn (shrimps), citric acid or lemon juice;
(f) in the case of canned tuna, ascorbic acid;
(g) in the case of lobster paste and fish caviar, food colour as permitted by the *Food and Food Standards (Food Additives and Prohibited Substances) Regulations, SI 136/2001;
(h) in the case of canned salmon, tuna, lobster, crabmeat, prawn (shrimp) and cooked canned clams, calcium disodium ethylene-diaminetetra-acetate (calcium disodium EDTA) as permitted by the *Food and Food Standards (Food Additives and Prohibited Substances) Regulations, SI136/2001;
(2) Prepared fish or prepared fish products shall contain not more than—
(a) that amount of filler, fish binder or other ingredients that is represented by 4% reducing sugars, calculated as dextrose;
(b) 70% moisture where such prepared fish contains filler; and
(c) in the case of lobster paste, 3% filler of fish binder. - Reference of the measure
