Description of the measure
Article 5
1. The labeling of food products of aquatic origin shall include the following essential information:
(A) the sales description of the product, including or accompanied by physical state of the product or treatment to which was subject; or nature of the product;
(B) the net quantity in the case of prepackaged products;
(C) the date of minimum durability or, in the case of very perishable from the microbiological point of view, date of consumption;
(D) list of ingredients, if applicable;
(E) ingredients belonging to one of the categories listed in of Annex I, when used;
(F) ingredients considered to be allergenic, listed in Annex II, in accordance with Article 15;
G) Quantity of certain ingredients or categories of ingredients, if applicable, in accordance with Article 14 of these standards;
(H) conditions of storage and use;
I) Identification of the production unit, containing the name and address of the producer or manufacturer, or packer, or distributor of the product, or exporter, or importer and the health approval number sanitary approval);
(J) an indication establishing the relationship between the and the product, as "produced for", "produced by" or "distributed by";
(K) place of origin or provenance where the omission this indication is liable to mislead the consumer;
L) Mention of the expression "Do not re-freeze", in case frozen/deep-frozen products;
M) Mention of "modified atmosphere conditioning" when the product has its prolonged durability by packaging gases;
(N) Indication identifying the lot under the conditions Required in Article 21;
O) Declaration of the country of origin, indicating in this case "Product of Mozambique".
2. Where a nutrition claim appears on the label, the presentation or advertising of the product, with the exception of
Collective advertising campaigns, nutritional labeling is accordance with the rules set out in Annex III.
3. Fishery products belonging to the family Gempylidae, in particular Ruvettus pretiosus and Lepidocybium flavobrunneum, fresh, prepared, frozen and processed, must contain information to the consumer about the preparation or the how to cook and about the risk related to the presence of substances with adverse gastrointestinal effects. The name scientific name of such products shall accompany the common name label.
4. The mandatory particulars of paragraph 1 (a), (b) and (o) should appear on the main panel.
5. For non-prepackaged products, the following shall not apply: c) and (g) of paragraph 1, where products sold in bulk and packaged in the sales outlets, the buyer's request and, if they are products sold in bulk packaged at the sales outlets at the buyer's request in the the information contained in the collective packaging or other provided that this information is accessible to the consumer, or made known, orally, by the selling agent on request the consumer.
6. In the case of packages the largest surface of which has a less than 10 cm2 only the following endorsements are required: Name of the product, country of origin, net quantity and date of consumption.
Article 6
1. The indication of the quantity of the ingredients shall be compulsory:
(A) Where the ingredient or category of ingredients concerned is included in the sales description of the product or is usually associated with the consumer's name of the product;
(B) Where the ingredient or category of ingredients concerned is highlighted on the label by words, pictures or graphic representation;
(C) Where the ingredient or category of ingredients concerned is essential for characterizing a product or distinguishing it from products with which it may be confused because of its name or appearance.
2. The requirement to mention the quantity of ingredients shall not apply to an ingredient or category of ingredients where:
(A) The drained net weight is indicated;
(B) The quantity must already appear on the label under other legal provisions;
(C) They are used in small quantities for flavoring purposes;
(D) Although it appears in the sales description, it is not such as to determine the choice of the consumer, since the variation in quantity is not essential to characterize the product or is such as to distinguish that product from other similar products;
(E) Other specific provisions determine precisely the quantity of the ingredient or category of ingredients without providing for their indication on the label.
3. The quantity expressed as a percentage corresponds to the quantity of the ingredient(s) at the time of its use, at the time of manufacture, except for the quantity of ingredients used in concentrated or dehydrated form and reconstituted during manufacture.
4. The endorsement referred to in paragraph 1 shall appear in the sales name of the product in the immediate vicinity of that name or in the list of ingredients related to the ingredient or category of ingredients concerned.
5. This Article shall apply without prejudice to the rules for the nutrition labeling of the products referred to in Annex IV.
Article 20
1. The labels or labels on the primary packaging of food products of aquatic origin shall contain mandatory entries in the Portuguese language, with the use of other languages being optional.
