- 1. Protect public health through disease surveillance and control.
2. To protect the national and export market of animals and products of animal origin through the surveillance and control of animal diseases.
3. To serve as the basis for carrying out the vigilance and eradication of diseases of great economic and/or public health importance.

- Description of the measure
- 1. It is prohibited the importation of animals, their products, by-products, offal and fodder from areas where there are known diseases listed in List A and B of O.I.E. up to 6 months after the declaration of the last outbreak.
2. It is prohibited the importation of domestic and wild animals of their products, by-products, offal and fodder is also prohibited when the transit takes place in areas where diseases of O.I.E. Lists A and B occur.
3. Misconduct of the provisions of paragraph 1 of this Article shall entail the slaughter of the animals and the destruction of products, by-products, offal and fodder without compensation. - Reference of the measure
