The rationale of the measure
These regulations shall apply to all canned vegetables which are sold or manufactured for sale in Zimbabwe.

Description of the measure
10 (1) No product shall be described as tomato paste unless it is prepared by concentrating tomato juice or the liquid obtained from the residue from the partial extraction of juices from tomatoes.
(2) Tomato paste shall not contain skins, seeds or other coarse substances and shall be strained or passed through a sieve of aperture size not greater than 850 micro-mtrs.
(3) Tomato paste shall contain a soluble solid content, exclusive of added salt, of not less than 25% when determined by a refractometer at 20° C uncorrected for acidity and read as degrees Brix on the international sucrose scale.
(4) Tomato paste may contain salt, sodium bicarbonate and, subject to the Food and Food Standards (Food Additives and Prohibited Substances) Regulations, 2001, any other ingredients
