53. Consumer products
3) Legal persons who import consumer products for sale and distribution as exempt products shall ensure that-
(a) legible labels are visibly and firmly affixed to each consumer product and its package, stating, in the local language, that-
(i) the product contains radioactive material; and
(ii) the sale of the product to the public has been authorised by the relevant Board;
and
(b) basic information and instructions on the precautions of use and disposal of the product, written in the local language, are made available with the product
85. Labelling requirements
(1) Labelling shall be done in accordance with the assigned category for packages and overpacks.
(2) Packages and overpacks shall be assigned to either category IWHITE, I- YELLOW or
HI- YELLOW in accordance with the conditions specified in the Seventh Schedule and with the following requirements—
(a) for a package or overpack, both the transport index and the surface radiation level conditions shall be taken into account in determining which is the appropriate category;
(b) where the transport index satisfies the condition for one category but the surface radiation level satisfies the condition for a different category, the package or
overpack shall be assigned to the higher category and category I-WHITE shall be regarded as the lowest category;
(b) the transport index shall be determined following the procedures specified in regulation 83.
(3) For all packages, any labels which do not relate to the contents shall be removed or covered.
(4) Excepted packages shall not require any labelling.
(5) All other packages, overpacks and freight containers shall bear labels which conform
to the models in the Seventh Schedule.
(6) The labels referred to in this regulation shall be affixed to two opposite sides of the outside of a package or overpack or on the outside of all four sides of a freight container or tank.
(7) On large freight containers and tanks enlarged labels may be used, in accordance with dimensions specified in the Seventh Schedule, in which case no placarding shall be required.
86. Information required on labels
Labels shall be completed with the following information-
(a) contents-
(i) except for LSA-I material, the name(s) of the radionuclide(s) shall be as
provided for in the Sixth Schedule,
(ii) for mixtures of radionuclides, the most restrictive nuclides must be listed to the
extent the space on the line permits,
(iii) the group of LSA or SCO shall be shown following the name(s) of the
radionuclide(s) and the terms "LSA-II", "LSA-III", "SCO-I" and "SCO-II" shall be
used for this purpose, or
(iv) for LSA-I material, the term "LSA-I" is all that is necessary; the name of the
radionuclide is not necessary,
(b) the maximum activity of the radioactive contents during transport expressed in units
of becquerels (Bq) with the appropriate SI prefix;
(c) for overpacks and freight containers the "contents" and "activity" entries on the label
shall bear the information required in subparagraphs (a) and (b), respectively,
totalled together for the entire contents of the overpack or freight container except
that on labels for overpacks or freight containers containing mixed loads of
packages containing different radionuclides, such entries may read "See Transport
Documents";

13 A plugs, socket – outlets, adaptors and connection units
14. Labelling requirements for feeding bottles, etc.
(1) A label, package or container of a feeding bottle or teat shall include, in simple
written English and Setswana—
(a) a statement of the superiority of breast-milk for feeding infants;
(b) a statement that feeding with a cup is safer than bottle feeding;
(c) instruction for proper cleaning and sterilisation of feeding bottle and teat;
(d) a warning of potential health hazards of using feeding bottle especially if it is not
properly sterilised;
(e) the need to follow preparation instructions carefully;
(f) the name and address of manufacturer or distributor.
(2) A label, package or container of a feeding bottle or teat shall not contain pictures of
infants, women or infant toys nor any other picture or text or any symbol depicting a health
advantage which idealises artificial feeding.
3. Marking of goods
(1) No person shall offer for sale by retail on any premises any goods unless such goods
have clearly marked thereon or in a position to be clearly visible to prospective purchasers-
(a) the cash price of such goods; and (b) the quantity of goods to which such price relates,
in the manner prescribed by these Regulations.
(2) In the prescribed details the abbreviations specified in the second column of the
Schedule may be used in place of the words respectively specified in the first column of the said
Schedule.
4. Goods sold pre-packed or individually
Where goods are offered for sale pre-packed or as individual items, each such
pre-packed article or individual item shall be marked with the prescribed details in characters
not less than 5 mm in height and, except in the case of the figure "1", 2 mm wide:
Provided that where goods are of such a nature that, for reasons of-
(i) weight;
(ii) size or bulk;
(iii) hygiene; or
(iv) security,
they cannot be so marked or cannot be handled by a prospective customer, the prescribed
details may be displayed in such a way as to be clearly identifiable with such goods and in
characters of not less than 10 mm in height and, except in the case of the figure "1", 4 mm wide.
5. Goods sold in bulk
Where goods are offered for sale from bulk and in accordance with a purchaser's
requirements as to weight, measure or number, the prescribed details shall be displayed in such
manner as to be clearly identifiable with such goods and in characters of not less than 10 mm in
height and, except in the case of the figure "1", 4 mm wide.
6. Goods sold on hire-purchase
Where goods are offered for sale on hire-purchase terms or by way of credit-sale or on
any other terms as to deferred payment the following details shall be displayed in addition to the
prescribed details and in characters of similar size-
(a) the amount of any deposit;
(b) the amount of each instalment;
(c) the frequency of instalments;
(d) the total number of instalments; and
(e) the total amount to be paid by way of deposit and instalments.
7. Discounts
Where goods are offered for sale at a discount whether for prompt payment, bulk
purchase, for a limited time or for any other reason, details of the amount to be purchased or the
date of termination of such limited time, as the case may be, shall be displayed with the
prescribed details and in characters of similar size.
8. Goods to be sold at a lower price
Where goods are offered for sale at a price lower than that previously displayed, the
prescribed details of such former price shall be cancelled or obliterated and shall not be
restored, and the prescribed details of such lower price shall be displayed.
9. Prescribed details not to be altered
Except in the case of a genuine mistake or with the approval of an authorized officer
appointed under the Control of Goods (Authorized Officers) Regulations, no person shall alter
any of the prescribed details in respect of any goods when such goods have been displayed if
the result of such alteration would be either-
(a) to increase the price of such goods; or
(b) to reduce the quantity to which the price relates.
10. Prescribed details not to be removed
Except at the request of a purchaser and only after sale has been concluded, no person
shall remove the prescribed details from any goods.
11. Markings to be in ink, etc.
The prescribed details shall be marked in non-toxic ink, paint or other indelible
substance and, subject, to the proviso to regulation 4 and, to regulation 5, only be printed-
(a) on the goods themselves;
(b) on a label securely affixed thereto; or
(c) on any container, package or wrapping material in which the goods are contained,
packed or wrapped and offered for sale
143) A label of a dummy shall include, in simple written English and Setswana—
(a) a notice that the use of such dummy can interfere with breast-feeding;
(b) instructions for proper cleaning and sterilisation of the dummy;
(c) a warning on potential health hazards of using a dummy especially if it is not properly
sterilised;
14(4) A label of a dummy shall not contain pictures of infants, women, animals or toys nor
any other picture or text or any symbol depicting a health advantage which idealises artificial
feeding over breast-feeding.
14(5) A label of a breast pump shall have written instructions in simple English and
Setswana, for proper use, cleaning and sterilisation of the breast pump.

(1) The capacity of a weighing instrument shall be clearly and conspicuously-
(a) stamped on the beam or steelyard or on a metal plate permanently secured to some prominent part of the instrument;
(b) cast in the framework of the instrument; or
(c) in the case of a self indicating instrument, marked on the chart.
(2) The capacity of a fabric-measuring instrument shall be clearly and conspicuously stamped thereon.
(3) The denomination of a weight shall, except where the small size of it renders it impracticable, be clearly and conspicuously stamped on the upper surface of the weight.
(4) The capacity of a measure shall, unless otherwise prescribed, be clearly and conspicuously stamped on the outside of the measure or on a metal plate permanently secured thereto.
(5) When an instrument, weight or measure is marked with its capacity or denomination, as the case may be, the denomination of weight or measure shall be stated in full, or, in respect of a denomination specified in the first column of the Second Schedule hereto, in full or in the abbreviated form specified opposite thereto in the second column of the Second Schedule.

22. Offences
(1) No person shall import, distribute, sell or otherwise dispose of an agrochemical unless a label is part of or securely attached to the container of the agrochemical and clearly and indelibly marked in English with such information as may be prescribed.
(2) No person shall alter the label of a container of an agrochemical, so as to misrepresent the nature of the agrochemical.

6. Labelling
(1) All containers in which an agrochemical is offered for sale or distribution shall bear a label written in English, and where possible, in Setswana, firmly affixed to the container, the wording of which shall be approved by the Committee.
(2) An application for the approval of the words to be placed on a label in accordance with sub regulation (1) shall be made to the Committee in writing.
(3) A label in accordance with sub regulation (1) shall contain the information set out in the Third Schedule.
(4) The classification of an agrochemical on a label according to toxicity shall be in accordance with the Fourth Schedule.
(5) The codes to be used for an agrochemical formulation on a label shall be as set out in the Fifth Schedule.
