245.Canned (naming the vegetable) shall be the product obtained by heat processing in an appropriate manner before or after being sealed in a container so as to prevent spoilage of the named fresh vegetable after it has been properly prepared, and it may contain sugar, invert sugar or dextrose, in a dry or liquid form, salt, a firming agent (seePart VI of the Nineteenth Schedule), if declared by name on the label, and other suitable ingredients which are not food additives, or food colours as specified in the Nineteenth Schedule or, if the ingredients are food additives, their use shall conform to the limits specified in the Nineteenth Schedule and, if they are food colours, their use and limits shall be as prescribed in Part I of the Seventeenth Schedule.

3. Introduction of semen into Botswana
(1) No person shall introduce, or cause to be introduced into Botswana any semen unless such semen is accompanied by a written permit by the Director authorizing the introduction of such semen.
(2) The Director may in granting a permit under the provisions of subregulation (1) impose such conditions as may appear to him necessary or expedient for preventing the introduction to and spread in Botswana of diseases of stock.
(3) Any person who contravenes the provisions of subregulation (1) or who contravenes any condition imposed under the provisions of subregulation (2) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable to the penalties prescribed in regulation 5.

34. Import, export, re-export and transit of game animals and trophies
(1) No person shall import, export, re-export or acquire transit rights for game animals without an import, export, re-export and transit permit respectively.
(2) An application for an import, export, re-export or transit permit for game animals not listed under the Fifth Schedule of the Act shall be made in the form set out in the Twenty Sixth Schedule.
(3) An import, export, re-export and transit permit for game animals and trophies not listed under the Fifth Schedule of the Act shall be in the form set out in the Twenty Seventh Schedule.
(4) An import, export, re-export and transit permit for game animals and trophies specified in the Fifth Schedule of the Act, shall be in the form set out in the Twenty Eighth Schedule.
(5) If an import, export, re-export or transit permit is unused for whatever reason it shall be surrendered to the issuing office before another one is issued.
(6) A permit applied for under this regulation may be issued on the payment of an appropriate fee specified in the Twenty-Ninth Schedule.
(7) A permit issued under this regulation shall be subject to such terms, conditions and requirements as may be endorsed in the permit.
(8) Any person who contravenes any provision of this regulation shall be guilty of an offence.

3. Restriction on importation of wheat flour
(1) No person shall import wheat flour except under and in accordance with a written
permit issued under these Regulations.
(2) Notwithstanding the provisions of subregulation (1) an import permit shall not be
required for the importation of wheat flour donated to the Botswana Government or any
organization or person for purposes of drought relief or for the importation by any person of an
amount not exceeding 12,5 kg of wheat flour for his personal consumption.
3. Restriction on importation of certain agricultural products
(1) No person shall import any agricultural products specified in the First Schedule
hereto except under and in accordance with a written permit issued by the authorized officer.
(2) Notwithstanding the provisions of subregulation (1), no permit shall be required for
the importation of-
(a) green maize commonly known as mealies;
(b) seed intended for planting, being a consignment or part of a consignment clearly
marked as seed; or
(c) any agricultural product specified in the Second Schedule hereto,
where such goods are imported by any person for the purpose of that person's own
consumption or use and in the quantities specified in the said Schedule.

2. Restriction of importation of growth promoters

3. Restriction on importation of eggs and poultry meat

Provided that a person may, without a permit issued under these Regulations, import for
consumption by himself or his immediate family not more than 36 eggs and 5 kg of poultry meat
at any one time.
3.Restriction on the importation of bread loaves and pie pastries
(1) No person shall import bread loaves or pie pastries except under and in accordance
with a permit issued under these Regulations.
(2) Notwithstanding the provisions of subregulation (1), an import permit shall not be
required for the importation, by any person, of-
(a) an amount not exceeding 6 loaves of bread per week; or
(b) an amount not exceeding 5 kg of pie pastries per week.
