11. Tests and quarantine for imported cattle (1) All cattle which have been imported shall, as soon as the requirements as to licences and certificates have been satisfied, proceed, unless the Director otherwise directs, by train, air or motor transport to a place of quarantine and shall be subjected to a test for tuberculosis at the expense of the owner.
(2) No such cattle shall be released from the place of quarantine until they have given a negative reaction to the test for tuberculosis.
(3) Any person who fails to comply with paragraph (1) shall be guilty of an offence. [L.N.259/1974.]
12. Imported animals may be dipped or otherwise treated In addition to any other powers conferred upon an inspecting officer, he may cause any animal which has been imported to be inoculated, dipped, disinfected, sprayed or otherwise treated, before a permit for movement is issued from the place of quarantine.
13. Imported animals infected with disease may be destroyed In addition to any other powers conferred upon him by these Rules, an inspecting officer may, with the authority of the Director, cause any animals which have been imported and which are infected or suspected of being infected with any disease or which have been in contact with a diseased animal or have otherwise been exposed to infection or contagion of disease to be destroyed or to be subjected to treatment.
134. Rules for protection of food
The Minister, on the advice of the board, may make rules regarding all or any
of the following matters—
(g) the inspection and examination of, and the regulation, inspection
and supervision of the manufacture, preparation, storage, keeping
and transmission of, any article of food intended for sale or for
export, and the prohibition of the manufacture, preparation storage,
keeping transmission, sale or export of any such article which is, or
contains an ingredient which is, diseased or unsound or unfit for
human consumption, or which has been exposed to any infection or
contamination;
3. (1) Birds and eggs for hatching purposes may only be imported if accompanied by a declaration signed by the breeder to the effect that—
(a) the blood of each bird in the consignment, and the blood of each bird from which the eggs in the consignment originate, has been appropriately tested with negative results for bacillary white diarrhoea, and that, to the best of the breeder’s knowledge and belief, the said disease does not exist among the birds on his farm or establishment.
(b) each bird in the consignment has been appropriately tested with negative results for tuberculosis.
(c) each bird and all eggs are from stock which is, to the best of the breeder’s knowledge and belief, free from disease known as fowl paralysis.

265. Test for pasteurised milk
(1) A licensee of a milk plant shall ensure that -
(a) a phosphatase test; and
(b) a methylene blue test
are carried out after milk has been pasteurised but before delivery for human consumption.
(2) A licensee of a milk plant shall not deliver pasteurised milk for human consumption unless the milk satisfies-
(a) the phosphatase test and does not contain coliform bacillus in 0.01 millilitre of the milk; and
(b) the methylene blue test.
(3) A person taking a sample of pasteurised milk for the purpose of a methylene blue test shall ensure that the sample is kept in an insulated container without artificial cooling until it reaches the laboratory.
7. (1) An authorized officer may collect samples of fish or fish product, from any consignment imported into Mauritius, for the purpose of identification and laboratory analysis.
(2) The samples shall be collected at the ports of entry or any other place where the fish is kept or stored.
(3) Sampling shall be carried out by an authorized officer in accordance with a sampling protocol as specified by the Codex Alimentarius or European Union.
(4) Samples shall be tested by a laboratory designated by the Permanent Secretary.
(5) The test methods used for analysis shall be validated by the laboratory against the standard methods.
(6) Where the result is positive for a particular test, the consignment shall be subject to re-sampling and testing.
28. Sampling of imported food
(a) Notwithstanding that a consignment of food is in the custody of the Comptroller of Customs, an authorised officer may proceed to take sample for the purpose of chemical analysis, physical or microbiological examination under section 6 of the Act, provided he follows the procedure set down in regulations 29 or 30.
32. Refuse to provide sample
No person shall refuse to sell at the current market value or to give without payment sample for purposes of analysis of any food, or any substance capable of being sold as or used in the preparation of food for human consumption.
This Law shall determine the preventive and other measures to fight against domestic animal diseases in Rwanda.

Description of the measure
Article 4: Compliance with Compulsory Standard A natural person, corporate body or business enterprise shall not manufacture, import, export or sell the commodity and product covered by compulsory standards regulated by these instructions without providing a proof of compliance to essential requirements of the standard to the competent authority. A proof of compliance shall be:
1. A certification mark issued by a Recognized Certification body;
2. A certificate of analysis issued by a Recognized Testing Body; or
3. A test report issued by a Recognized Testing Body.

19.-(1) No person shall-
(a) import, export, produce, process, distribute or sell seeds unless he is registered as such under this Act; or
(b) test, process or multiply seeds otherwise than in a registered laboratory seed processing factory or, as the case may be, a seed multiplication farm.
(2) Notwithstanding subsection (1), nothing in this Act shall, be construed as preventing the sale of quality declared seeds as such to a neighbour fanner, whereby such seeds are grown by a smallholder fanner for use as seeds in his own farm.
(3) Where a registered Seed Dealer contracts any person to import, export, produce, process, distribute or sell seeds, that person shall be bound by the terms and conditions provided for under this Act.
15 (3) Al l persons Intending to obtain permit to import food for donation, special occasion food or food for emergency shall provide to the Authority- (a) food samples for safety evaluation.
(4)The permit for importation of donation, special occasion food or food for emergency shall be granted upon satisfaction that such food is fit for human consumption.
3.– (1) Any importer of products covered by compulsory Tanzania standards shall,at least one week before the arrival of their import shipment, apply to the Bureau for the Batch Certificate.
(2) An application made under sub-regulation (1) shall be made in the prescribed forms obtainable from the Bureau or the Tanzania Revenue Authority.
(3) The applicant shall in making an application under this regulation, submit to the Bureau the application forms in triplicates together with the documents listed below:
(a) Packing list;
(b) The Port entry;
(c) Invoice;
(d) Bill of lading or Airway bill;
(e) Clean report of findings from competent authority of the exporting country, if available; and
(f) Test certificate from the country of origin as issued by the National Standards Body thereof; or its recognized testing authority in that country establishing conformity of the import shipment to the requirements of the Tanzania Standards, or Bureau's recognized international or foreign standards.
(4) Where the products covered by the Compulsory Tanzania Standards include foods and food products, the test certificate under paragraph (f) of sub-regulation (3) shall indicate that the foods or food products are consumable in their country of origin
