- 4. Examination of imported animals
(1) All animals which have been imported shall be moved to a place of quarantine by the inspecting officer for examination in accordance with these Rules, and shall be subject to any special directions or orders (including orders to destruction) as the Director may issue.
(2) Any person who removes an animal from a place of quarantine without the written authority of an inspecting officer, or who fails to comply with any direction or order of the Director issued under paragraph (1), shall be guilty of an offence.
7. Quarantine of dogs and cats If the Director is satisfied that a canine animal or feline animal which has been imported has not been suitably vaccinated against rabies he shall cause the animal to be detained and isolated at the expense of the owner in a place approved by the Director, for a period of up to six months.
11. Tests and quarantine for imported cattle (1) All cattle which have been imported shall, as soon as the requirements as to licences and certificates have been satisfied, proceed, unless the Director otherwise directs, by train, air or motor transport to a place of quarantine and shall be subjected to a test for tuberculosis at the expense of the owner.
(2) No such cattle shall be released from the place of quarantine until they have given a negative reaction to the test for tuberculosis.
(3) Any person who fails to comply with paragraph (1) shall be guilty of an offence. [L.N.259/1974.]

- 4. Control of dealings in semen
(1) No person shall-
(a) dispose of any semen (whether this has been imported into Botswana or collected in Botswana) to any other person by sale, gift or exchange or in any other manner whatsoever;
(b) use any such semen for artificial insemination of any stock which are not the property of the owner of the semen; or
(c) in the case of semen collected in Botswana, remove such semen from the property on which it has been collected, except under and in accordance with a written permit by the Director.
(2) The Director may in granting a permit under the provisions of subregulation (1) impose such conditions as may appear to him to be necessary or expedient for preventing the introduction to and spread in Botswana of diseases of stock.

- 5. No person shall import into Zanzibar any edible salt in any other form unless such salt is iodated in conformity with regulation 6 of 4 these Regulations.
6. (1) No person shall or cause any other person or on his behalf manufacture for sale or distribute, store or display salt for human or animal consumption unless such salt is iodated in accordance with the Regulations.
(2) Not withstanding the provision of any other regulation, salt shall not be iodated unless the same contains moisture not exceeding 4.0 percent of the weight of the undried sample and containing on dry weight basis:
i) at least 97.0 per cent by weight of sodium chloride;
ii) not more than 1.0 per cent by weight of matter insoluble in water;
iii) not more than 2.0 per cent by weight of matter soluble in water other than sodium chloride; and
iv) the level of iodine shall be 75 – 100 parts per million at its production; and
v) the level of iodine shall be 40 – 75 parts per million at the time of importation; and

- 23. (1) An appropriate enforcement authority may, where a person carries on a business in the course of which a product, substance or material is used in the preparation of any food or is imported, produced or sold for use in the preparation of any food, serve on that person a notice requiring the person to furnish to the appropriate enforcement authority, within the time that may be specified in respect of the product, substance or material or a class specified in the notice.
23 (2) Without prejudice to the generality of subsection (1), a notice made under that subsection may require the furnishing of the following particulars of a substance, product or material to which it applies:
(a) the composition of the substance, product or material and the chemical formula of every ingredient of the substance, product or material;
(b) the manner in which the substance, product or material is used or intended to be used in the preparation of any food; - Reference of the measure
